Bird Dog Training Session

The video I’ve posted here is a training session with my one year old German Wirehair, Pappi. He had a lot of training last season and even had some wild pheasants shot over him…but we are in the process of finishing him because he is at a time and maturation level whereby we can get that done. As you can see, he doesn’t point pretty at all but still is learning the concept that he doesn’t flush and he will have to hold the bird. Training a young dog (pup) is and can be a long process and needs to be done with positive rewards…and lastly should be short enough to keep the interest of the pup.
